Pakistani soldier shot dead near Afghan border

A Pakistani security official has been killed by firing from Afghanistan in the mountainous border tribal region of Bajaur.The military said in a statement that the incident happened at 11:45 a.m. local time (0645 GMT) on Sunday.It was not clear whether the cross-border firing was conducted by Afghan security personnel or militants.At least five Pakistanis, including a woman, were killed and 25 others wounded when Afghan army troops reportedly opened fire at a border village in Zhob district in September last year.In May 2013, an Afghan border policeman was killed in an exchange of fire with Pakistani troops along the country’s contested eastern border.
